FEATURED SPEAKER:

Joe Barton, United States Congressman, Sixth District of Texas.
Revisiting the 1996 Telecommunications Act:
Possible Legislative Action to Encourage Investment in Technology

In 2004, Congressman Barton was selected by his colleagues to be Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, the oldest standing United States House of Representatives legislative committee. This influential committee has primary legislative jurisdiction over a broad array of telecommunications matters including the deployment of advanced services, VoIP, cable television programming, wireless technologies, and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Mr. Barton's talk on "Revisiting the 1996 Telecommunications Act: Possible Legislative Action to Encourage Investment in Technology" is particularly appropriate. As the committee Chair, Congressman Barton will lead the Energy and Commerce Committee’s development of potentially landmark legislation that could significantly change the 1996 Act and the telecommunications marketplace. He will discuss how changes in U.S. policy and federal regulations could address evolving telecom, Internet and data networking technologies, markets and applications domestically and globally to ensure that regulatory policies encourage investment in new technologies.

This event is included with Full conference registration.
Tickets can be purchased for $100 per person for other registration categories and Accompanying Guests.
